Majha Marathi Khoob Changle Aahe!

For all those who didnt get the title,it reads "I know Marathi very well".(I think so ;-)

Not really.

The reason being my colleagues at work and many of my friends were comfy speaking hamara rashtra baasha,which improved my Hindi from the crude Hyderabadi version. After being in Pune for more than 3 years,I realized last weekend that my understanding of the language is quite pathetic.

In the numerous tapri's here, one of the prominent snack displayed apart from the vada pav is called "Vada Sample"(vada is a snack made by frying a mixture of veggies and gram flour),sample for the literal meaning in english.

With the help of my amazing logic and marathi,I thought sample actually meant 'sam.....ple' which means "over" or "finished" or "done" in marathi!

I always used to wonder how the tapri wallahs used to make money when the vada's were always over!!! And that in Pune people actually advertise things they don't have!

Always thought they should get some biz gyaan...

Foolish me,now I realize my error in 'judgement'(if at all you can call that one) and am being extra cautious with any spoken or written word of marathi.

Have you been watching the i box lately?

Then you can't miss,either the Fashion Weeks( Lakme,Wills etc) or the numerous promo's being aired for a movie called Tashan .

The leading ladies have become so alarmingly stingy,that they have stopped consuming 2 of the 3 essentials(according to bollywood that is...) roti,kapda aur makaan. A serious no waste disorder is causing the leading ladies of these events/movies to look as zombies albeit the blood and gore.

All the models(well most of them) and actress(kk) appear as if they haven't eaten for days.I suppose their 'physical dimension' is called a size zero.

The lesser said about their dressing sense the better(I doubt the "sense" as the "dressing" is too far and  in between).They are hell bent on saving both food and cloth for their fellow countrymen.These stunts have become doubly beneficial to an already harassed general public .Not only are they alleviating the food shortage(read this) ,but also fighting for the enron by wearing next to nothings(read this ).

Just,hope there are more such 'stars' doing their bit for the world and the enron.

The product for which all of my team have been working really hard for the past one year has 'officially' released today. Check out 3DPaintBrush.com . 

It has been a great year(lets count according to the financial year rather than the calender year).After a lot of dilly dallying I joined this project(till then had been associated with the Mech Design Engg...) and it truly has been a great learning experience. Its a great rush to get involved with something from the start...(to the end...well lets leave the ending for later posts,shall we?). This may sound cliche,but the entire rank and file associated with the product have put in their best.

As more & more web content consists of 3d,a user friendly app for generating this 3d data is the need of the hour. Apart from the regular raster images & videos ,you could use this app to generate xaml, svg and swf formats.Another amazing feature called "3dsnip" captures(grab) 3d data from any other app!

On Moday I forgot my mobile at home.After rushing from office in the evening,it listed an amazing 18 missed calls(from similar numbers...).Skipping a beat,hoping my "l3" is trying to kiss and make up with me,I checked on the numbers to call back to have one of the most horrific half hour ever in my life!

"Hello ...I got many missed calls from this number....to whom does this belong to ?"I say expectedly.

"Sir this is __ hospital.There are many staff,patients and their relatives.Many use this phone.So can't help you who made the calls"...the chilling voice at the other end replies.

"Ok.Any emergency from 11 am(the time of the first call) till now? Anybody from _________(my company) or Kothrud (the area where I stay)".I plead for more info.

"Sir,I have just now reported for my shift.Its better if you could come over and check it yourself".He says.

By now really worried,I start preparing a list of all those to call to ensure that they are fine.Also to check that this wasn't a dumb(not that my friends are so stupid but still...) prank by my friends,called another number(which was similar to the last digit) to cross check.This time a lady answered(lots of disturbance at the other end).

"Hello,I got missed calls from this number.Yeh kiska number hai?" I say

"Sir, ye  hospital ka OP ward hai.Yahan se bahut log call karte hain.Hum aapko bata nahin payenge"..She says irritably and bangs the receiver.

By now,my super brain is charged up with what action to take....whom to call...in what order....could it be my roommate...could it be my previous neighbor who used to affectionately call me bhaiyya...or any of my colleagues at my workplace or my friends?

With a ciggi in one hand(it tremendously clarifies things),start calling my friends,but even before the call was answered,just like a godsend(?), I got another call from the same number.I immediately answer,anxious,nervous,hoping for the best.

After some blabber in Marathi,

"Hello,can I talk to Dr.____?" (I hear wailing sounds at other end)

"I am Sri...this isn't Dr.____ 's number." I say

"Oh...".Line goes dead.

In an instant another call from the same number and the same conversation.

As I realise, my number got jumbled with some Doc. I tried to contact the customer care but expecting help from them is like murphy's law,"The more urgent your request is the longer they would take to process it".

So spent the whole day wondering whether the Doc could be reached on time...whether I could have done anything in this whole mess?

Any ideas in situations like this?
